Michael Jackson - Cred for the Master

We live in a age where the beer industry is marred with elevated egos and self proclaimed beer prophets. New School, Old School? What does it matter? It does matter! Beer Style, Beer Profile, Beer Evaluation.... does any of it matter? I hear plenty of people who say NO. Blathering self ego stroking idiots, spewing out praise for crappy and mediocre beer with little understanding and definitely no sense of evaluation skills, nor vocabulary to even describe a Bud from a Bock. Where is the validity? Who do we turn to for answers? Who started it all? Who is the master? Who has what the modern generation refer to as CRED? Really only one man has the credential to be called the MASTER of Beer knowledge and reference. Michael Jackson.

I came across some of these videos on Michael Jackson. Some are "Lost Tapes" for the up and coming Michael Jackson, The Beer Hunter movie. Also included is part of his Beer Hunter series. All credits go to those who created these videos.

So... The next time someone wants to flaunt their "LACK" of beer knowledge on the web, remember this is the man who had all the cred. You can't turn your back to the master or dumb down what he built for the respect of beer and brewing. Respect the beer.. don't dumb it down for your own benefit. Preach from the Masters podium, not belittle his efforts.

I remember the Beer Hunter series very well. Filmed in 1989-90. The beer scene was new and fresh. It was an exciting time when craft brewing was just coming out of grass roots efforts. Brewing wasn't hip or cool. Brewers weren't rock stars to anybody but... Beer Geeks. The original beer geeks who started a Revolution in American brewing. This was back in a time when being a Beer Geek was...geeky. I was Beer Geek and I still am a Beer Geek. It was a much more pleasant Beer World when the Geek factor was small and the Geeks were real Geeks. ;-}

Thank You Michael....
